CAP : the Charitable Advisor Platform
Donor advised funds are the fastest growing segment of philanthropy, because philanthropists want freedom to give. The Charitable Advisor Platform (CAP) will give donors the freedom and convenience they require, and simultaneously will relieve the NPO’s and FSP’s serving them of the complex administrative consequences. The CAP architecture, along with the ChesterCAP business process, standardizes and centralizes critical components:
- Financial product administration via a primary custodial agent. Decoupling the investment product from the related administration and providing a universal infrastructure standard for NPOs, will reduce operational complexities for all participants, and will drive up DAF revenue.
- Accounting, cashiering, notifications, and statements via a networked system of web portals linked to back office services. Outsourced administration will virtually eliminate the need for NPO’s and FSP’s to maintain in-house DAF administration, lower scale barriers for mid- and small-sized NPO’s, and drive down expenses.
The donor can choose to create a DAF directly with their NPO or through their financial advisor, who will thereby satisfy a client and earn a fee. With the approval of the recipient NPO the donor can also choose an investment portfolio and ultimately a grant recipient from an online catalogue of charitable opportunities.
